As per my understanding, we need to introduce an additional constant term to get the VIF index in a similar range scale as calculated by R. The official documentation on it doesn’t mention anything related to constant terms.

VIF is a calculated index among the variables. As long as VIF calculated for all the variables are on the same scale we are able to infer the influencing factor.
